Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

He defended four early break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
